*SENIOR SPECIAL NEEDS*
Zeniba, or Grandma kitty as we call her, is a tender hearted girl who is quick to purr. She’s looking for a fairly quiet home where she can reign as queen of your lap. She’s more comfortable on your lap with a pillow she can curl up on, while still being with you. Always happy for being gently picked-up and held, she loves receiving soft pets. Her little body aches and you can tell by the way she walks, but she doesn’t let that get in the way of gingerly jumping small heights to get on a couch or wherever you may be (pet stairs would be a welcome relief for her to reach these places easily). She is deaf, and if she’s awake and not able to find her beloved people, she will meow quite loudly for you to come to her. Due to her hearing loss, she reacts well and will not startle awake, if you place your hand in front of her nose so she can smell that you are there, or gently push down (lightly bounce) the area around where she is sleeping to alert her to your presence. Grandma doesn’t mind being around other cats that are respectful in allowing her space to sleep and roam. With the loss of teeth it is difficult of her to eat dry food, so keeping her dish filled with a wet food helps keep her full. She loves any wet food that has a strong odor (she’s loving Rachel Ray’s wet cat food, the seafood variety is a great hit!). A full and fresh water dish is favorite too as this girl can lap it up! Her arthritis does make going to the potty a little difficult, I have been using a cardboard box lined with wax paper, cut so the sides are short and easy for her to get in and out of. This sweetheart is looking for a kind and patient home where she can live out her golden years snuggled next to you, receiving all the love and pets. In return giving all her love back to you! Currently, to manage Zeniba’s arthritis pain, she is receiving half a baby aspirin crushed into her canned food every 3 days.
