For the safety of your dog’s paws, we cancelled the Dog Costume contest at the Newberg Old Fashioned Festival on Friday night. The temperature of the ground in that area is still well above 100 degrees in the sun and in the shade in the evening and that is just too hot for sensitive paws.
We’d still like to have some fun with the contest, so we’ll move it to virtual! You can send us your dog’s picture in the costume to events@newberganimals.com by Saturday at 8pm and we’ll vote on the best on Sunday at 12pm and post all the entries on Facebook and Instagram. No fee to enter. Here are the themes you can choose from, there will be one winner in each category.

Best Human & Dog Look Alike
Best in Show

When emailing, if you hadn’t pre-registered yet, please let us know your name and phone number, your dog’s name, their age, and the costume description (if needed), and the category you’d like to be entered into as well.

Can’t wait to see all the fun costumes!
Also, stop by our booth in Memorial Park to spin the wheel for some cute prizes and enter into the raffle for baskets of goodies!

Rules: 

  • Only dogs allowed in this contest
  • Dogs must be at least 6 months old
  • Costumes must be safe & comfortable
  • Dogs must be on a leash (retractables locked at 6 ft)
  • Dogs must be under owner control at all times
  • Owner is responsible for the actions of their pet
  • Dogs must be clean, in good health, fully vaccinated
  • No dogs in heat
  • Dogs must be sociable with other pets and people
  • Dogs must be well adjusted to crowds & noise

Please be prepared to clean up after your dog

Non-compliance from the audience or entrants, will be asked to leave the area.

(This event is weather dependent.  It will be cancelled if too hot or raining.)

Reminder: Only service dogs are allowed in Memorial Park
