Petey

Petey has found his forever home!

Petey is a friendly 4 month old border collie mix pup. He came to us from Merced County Animal Services through New Beginnings and has been in a foster home. He did have mange, most likely Demodectic, the not contagious kind. He received a skin scraping from Newberg Vet and is clear of any mites. He has been undergoing bathing treatments and his fur is starting to grow back but his fur is patchy and is still bald in spots. Here is what his foster home has to say about him…

Petey is an outgoing and adventurous young pup. He gets along great with his foster dogs (big and small) and cat friends. He is interested in the cats that like to run from him but is learning to let them be or deal with their wrath. He is crate trained and does go to the bathroom every time he is outside but he still has had some accidents in the house on the potty pads.

He loves playing with toys and just running around with a happy face on. He has met chickens and is curious of them but leaves them alone. He would do best with older kids as his skin can be sensitive to him while playing and has lightly nipped once to warn. He doesn’t mind wearing sweaters to keep him warm. He knows sit for a treat and is very treat motivated to continue to learn more manners. It’s hard to tell what exactly he is mixed with but most of his hair is coming back a bit thick and wiry, so possibly mixed with a terrier too. He will make a great dog and we hope to see what he looks like when all of his hair has grown back!
