Meet Oscar—affectionately known as Oscar the Grouch. This independent gentleman has quite the origin story, having started life running wild as a stray at the local transfer station. Because of that, Oscar is still very much a cat who values his space and prefers life on his own terms.
Oscar is not aggressive, but he isn’t a fan of being handled or touched, and he’s not looking to be anyone’s cuddle buddy. Instead, he’d thrive as a barn cat or in a quiet home where he can coexist comfortably without too many expectations. He’s the kind of cat who will do his own thing, keep you company from a distance, and maybe—just maybe—soften over time with patience and understanding.
For the right person, Oscar offers something special: the chance to give a once-wild cat a safe place to land. And while he may never be a lap cat, he has the potential to become a quiet, steady presence in your life.
If you are interested in meeting Oscar, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11am – 6pm and Sunday 11am – 4pm. If you’d like to schedule an appointment, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.
