Kayla is a wonderful and valued member of our team who consistently brings dedication, efficiency, and reliability to everything she does. She is always willing to go above and beyond to make sure both our team and the animals in our care are supported. Her hard work, positive presence, and unwavering dedication make a meaningful difference every single day. We are incredibly grateful for everything Kayla does and for the compassion and commitment she brings to our shelter. Congratulations, Kayla! Thank you for all that you do for our team and, most importantly, for the animals who depend on us. We are so lucky to have you!
Meet Phoenix
Phoenix’s story is one of resilience, determination, and a little bit of destiny.
On November 1, 2022, Phoenix arrived at our shelter after being found in terrible condition following a fire. The people who brought her in feared the worst—she was severely injured, suffering from extensive burns and unable to move normally. What followed was a long and difficult road to recovery. Through countless veterinary visits, treatments, and months of healing, Phoenix fought every step of the way. Despite the odds, she never gave up.
As the months passed, Phoenix not only survived—she thrived. Along the way, she captured the hearts of everyone at the shelter. By the time her one-year anniversary rolled around, we realized something important: we simply couldn’t imagine the shelter without her. In November of 2023, Phoenix officially became the shelter’s cat.
Today, Phoenix reigns over the shelter lobby as our beloved resident feline and self-appointed supervisor. She spends her days patrolling the building, inspecting staff and volunteers, greeting visitors, and making sure everything is running according to her standards. With beds, blankets, and perches scattered throughout the shelter, she always has a cozy spot nearby to oversee her kingdom.
Phoenix is incredibly social and loves meeting new people. While our staff may have titles and job descriptions, everyone knows who the real boss is around here—and it’s Phoenix.
When you visit the shelter, be sure to stop by and say hello to her. Whether she’s making her rounds, lounging in one of her favorite beds, or keeping a watchful eye on the front desk, Phoenix is always happy to receive a little admiration from her loyal subjects.
