Jamie
Jamie is the heart behind so many of our successful adoptions and an incredible advocate for the animals in our care. As our Adoption Coordinator, she consistently goes above and beyond, putting in countless extra hours and effort to make sure every pet has the best possible chance at finding the right home. Her passion for the shelter shines through in everything she does. Jamie’s dedication, compassion, and relentless commitment make a lasting impact on our team, our community, and, most importantly, the animals whose lives she changes every single day. We’re so grateful to have her and are proud to recognize her as our Employee of the Month.
Meet Phoenix
Phoenix’s story is one of resilience, determination, and a little bit of destiny.
On November 1, 2022, Phoenix arrived at our shelter after being found in terrible condition following a fire. The people who brought her in feared the worst—she was severely injured, suffering from extensive burns and unable to move normally. What followed was a long and difficult road to recovery. Through countless veterinary visits, treatments, and months of healing, Phoenix fought every step of the way. Despite the odds, she never gave up.
As the months passed, Phoenix not only survived—she thrived. Along the way, she captured the hearts of everyone at the shelter. By the time her one-year anniversary rolled around, we realized something important: we simply couldn’t imagine the shelter without her. In November of 2023, Phoenix officially became the shelter’s cat.
Today, Phoenix reigns over the shelter lobby as our beloved resident feline and self-appointed supervisor. She spends her days patrolling the building, inspecting staff and volunteers, greeting visitors, and making sure everything is running according to her standards. With beds, blankets, and perches scattered throughout the shelter, she always has a cozy spot nearby to oversee her kingdom.
Phoenix is incredibly social and loves meeting new people. While our staff may have titles and job descriptions, everyone knows who the real boss is around here—and it’s Phoenix.
When you visit the shelter, be sure to stop by and say hello to her. Whether she’s making her rounds, lounging in one of her favorite beds, or keeping a watchful eye on the front desk, Phoenix is always happy to receive a little admiration from her loyal subjects.
