Employee of the Month
Jamie
We are proud to recognize Jamie, our Adoption Coordinator, as our October Employee of the Month!
Jamie goes above and beyond every day for our animals, her team, and the shelter as a whole. As our Adoption Coordinator, Jamie plays a vital role in helping our animals find their people. She carefully matches pets with potential adopters, takes the time to counsel and support adopters through the process, and advocates for each and every animal in our care. She understands that a successful adoption is about more than simply finding a home—it’s about finding the right home.
But Jamie’s dedication doesn’t stop at adoptions. She plays a huge role in the behind-the-scenes work that keeps the shelter running, from assisting with intakes and veterinary runs to helping with daily medical care and whatever else needs to be done. She consistently steps up, lends a hand, and does what’s needed to make sure our animals and our team are taken care of.
Jamie’s dedication to the shelter and its animals is evident in everything she does. Her compassion, hard work, and willingness to go the extra mile make a difference every single day.
Congratulations, Jamie, and thank you for everything you do for our animals, our team, and our shelter!
Meet Phoenix
Phoenix’s story is one of resilience, determination, and a little bit of destiny.
On November 1, 2022, Phoenix arrived at our shelter after being found in terrible condition following a fire. The people who brought her in feared the worst—she was severely injured, suffering from extensive burns and unable to move normally. What followed was a long and difficult road to recovery. Through countless veterinary visits, treatments, and months of healing, Phoenix fought every step of the way. Despite the odds, she never gave up.
As the months passed, Phoenix not only survived—she thrived. Along the way, she captured the hearts of everyone at the shelter. By the time her one-year anniversary rolled around, we realized something important: we simply couldn’t imagine the shelter without her. In November of 2023, Phoenix officially became the shelter’s cat.
Today, Phoenix reigns over the shelter lobby as our beloved resident feline and self-appointed supervisor. She spends her days patrolling the building, inspecting staff and volunteers, greeting visitors, and making sure everything is running according to her standards. With beds, blankets, and perches scattered throughout the shelter, she always has a cozy spot nearby to oversee her kingdom.
Phoenix is incredibly social and loves meeting new people. While our staff may have titles and job descriptions, everyone knows who the real boss is around here—and it’s Phoenix.
When you visit the shelter, be sure to stop by and say hello to her. Whether she’s making her rounds, lounging in one of her favorite beds, or keeping a watchful eye on the front desk, Phoenix is always happy to receive a little admiration from her loyal subjects.
