Meet SpokesDog Xuela!
Xuela came into our lives at the end of 2010, a rescue from Southern California. Our first dog was getting older, and we hoped a new companion might help invigorate her. Erin found Xuela through a local rescue post where she was being held awkwardly in a less-than-flattering photo. Erin felt sorry for her immediately, and that sympathy grew into love. Though advertised as a lab mix, Xuela only grew to about 20 pounds, with a DNA test showing no breed making up more than 12%. We named her Xuela, short for Venezuela, in honor of our favorite San Francisco Giants player of the time, Pablo Sandoval, who is nicknamed Panda, also black and white like Xuela.
She may be small, but her personality is anything but! Xuela is bossy in the sweetest way and greets everyone with excited chirping and squeals as if you’ve been gone forever, even if you just stepped away for a few minutes. Her enthusiasm for new people is so boundless that she often tries to greet them before they’ve even parked. If only she could wait a little longer, she’d be the perfect greeter at our winery, Compris Vineyard!

Meet SpokesCat Zoey!
I was sad when my 20-year-old cat, Kit, died. Even one night without a cat in the
house seemed wrong. The next day I went to the animal shelter “just to look.” I
immediately fell in love with Sasha, a beautiful 3-year-old blue tortoiseshell. As I
was preparing to leave with her, the attendant mentioned that Sasha had a sister,
Zoey, that she was bonded with. Well, sisters need to stay together….
This year’s Spokescat is Zoey, the cat who almost didn’t make her way into my life
and my heart. Whether she’s perched on a barstool near the window surveying her
realm indoors and out, or patiently stalking a bug as it climbs the wall, or walking
across the keyboard as I’m trying to enter my password, Zoey is a delightful and
affectionate member of my household.
